Foul trouble meant points came in bunches for Napheesa Collier Tuesday night. But when all was said and done, the Minnesota Lynx forward had more than enough to help her team down the Chicago Sky 88-79 on the road at Wintrust Arena.Collier finished with a game-best 29 points despite picking up her fourth foul midway through the third quarter. The victory snapped a two-game losing streak for the Lynx (14-15) and halted a three-game winning streak for the Sky (12-16).“Tonight did feel like one of those nights,” Collier said. “It feels good because I haven’t been as efficient as I’ve wanted to be. I really pride myself on being an efficient player. So when I go through droughts where I have to shoot more shots and they’re not going in, it’s really frustrating.“It felt good to have a night like tonight where I feel like if I have the ball, I’m going to make it. It’s always a confidence boost when that happens.”Collier picked up her third foul with 4:03 to go in the second quarter, forcin...

Brooks Lee, rated the No. 1 prospect in the Twins organization by MLB.com and Baseball America, made his much-anticipated home debut with the Saints on Tuesday night at CHS Field, which coincided with the return of Royce Lewis, the player he supplanted as the organization’s top prospect.Lewis played his first game on rehab assignment from the Twins after going on the injured list due to an oblique strain on July 2 and stole Lee’s thunder, hitting a long home run and driving in a pair of runs in the Saints’ 14-4 win over the Louisville Bats.Nonetheless, Lee, the Twins’ No. 1 pick in the 2022 draft, was happy to begin the next leg of a journey that is expected to have him in a Twins uniform as early as next season.“I didn’t know it was going to happen, but you just try to play your best,” Lee said of the call up from Double-A Wichita. “I assumed they had a plan for me as long as I played well. OAKLAND — Max Scherzer had six strikeouts and pitched three-hit ball over seven innings and the Texas Rangers extended their longest winning streak in seven years to nine games, beating the last-place Oakland Athletics 6-1 on Tuesday night.Scherzer, the three-time Cy Young winner whom the Rangers acquired in a trade from the Mets on July 30, worked efficiently through the worst offense in the majors in front of another sparse crowd of 5,419 at the Coliseum. The 39-year-old right-hander retired nine of the first 10 batters he faced and didn’t allow a hit until JJ Bleday’s leadoff homer in the fourth. Scherzer also walked two.“Just a typical Scherzer outing. He knows how to use pitch,” A’s manager Mark Kotsay said. “That’s why he’s been so successful in his career, and it’s why the Rangers went out and got him — to eat innings and to go out and be a big-time performer.“He showed up tonight and we got one run off of him.
