LOS ANGELES (AP) — Max Homa knows he could walk around Los Angeles Country Club this week like he owns the place. After all, he’s returning to his hometown to play in the 123rd U.S. Open, and he’s doing it at a hallowed venue where he set the course record with a 61 at the Pac-12 championships a decade ago.Homa will have big, loud, supportive galleries at this Beverly Hills-adjacent golf haven while he chases his first major title this week. He already tasted that atmosphere Tuesday when he played his practice round with Michael Kim, his college teammate at California when he shot that course-record 61.“On a regular basis I get people yelling my college if they went there, (but) getting people yelling my high school is different, so that’s been awesome,” Homa said. “It’s just a really great golf course in my favorite city in the world.”Homa is already one of the most interesting players on the PGA Tour, and his latest return to LA has the potential to be a landmark moment...German court orders Cologne archdiocese to pay clergy abuse victim over $300,000

BERLIN (AP) — A court on Tuesday ordered a German diocese to pay 300,000 euros ($323,000) in compensation to a former altar boy who was repeatedly abused by a Catholic priest in the 1970s, a ruling that a victims’ association said was the first of its kind in Germany. The state court in Cologne ruled in a case in which the plaintiff, a man now aged 62 who was raped and otherwise abused more than 300 times by a now-deceased priest, had sought 750,000 euros from the Cologne archdiocese, German news agency dpa reported. The archdiocese decided against invoking the statute of limitations in the case.Presiding Judge Stephan Singbartl said that the court hadn’t ordered higher compensation because the victim’s life fortunately hadn’t been destroyed, noting that he had married, had children and been able to work. The German church has been making voluntary payments to abuse survivors. Victims’ groups criticized the amounts as too small. A system that took effect ...Alexander eager to help Packers wideouts by lining up against them in practice

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander got some early evidence that second-year receivers Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson will make major strides this upcoming season.Doubs beat Alexander for a catch on a red zone drill Tuesday during the first day of the Packers’ mandatory minicamp. Watson raced past Alexander to catch a deep pass from new starting quarterback Jordan Love.Neither of those scenes happened very often last season.“Doubs caught a touchdown on me today, and I gave him a hug almost,” Alexander said. “I was like, ‘Good stuff,’ because the year before he didn’t catch anything on me.”Opponents also don’t catch much against him.Alexander, 26, had a career-high five interceptions and was a second-team selection in the All-Pro balloting last season. Alexander delivered one of the top individual single-game performances by any cornerback when he helped the Packers limit Justin Jefferson to one catch for 15 yards in a 41-17 victory over the Minnesot...¿Cuánto cuesta ir a ver el debut de Messi en el Inter Miami?

(CNN Español) — Lionel Messi anunció que su futuro futbolístico está en Estados Unidos. EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — Justin Jefferson jogged onto the sun-soaked practice field, proceeding to jump in the air with a karate kick of his left leg as he approached his teammates.Absent all spring on his own offseason training and business agenda, Jefferson’s salient presence was a natural highlight for the Minnesota Vikings as they convened for minicamp.“You can just tell when he’s walking the halls in our building, just the energy and the juice that he brings,” coach Kevin O’Connell said Tuesday. “He was in great shape, moving around today like I expected him to be, mentally still really sharp.”Jefferson, an unanimous All-Pro pick for 2022 who has two years remaining on his rookie contract, has entered the window for what will likely be an extraordinarily expensive extension with his 4,825 yards and 324 receptions that are the most in NFL history over a player’s first three seasons. The Louisiana native has been working out in the Miami area during the voluntary port...'It just went south real quick': Witnesses detail LoDo shooting after Nuggets win
